Text from Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) Powering Health Facilities - Approach, pg. 2 (Reference)
It is recommended to start with a round of stakeholder consultation, especially at the national level. While this depends on the country context, as well as the lead agency, this could include:
      ▪ Ministry of Energy
      ▪ Rural Energy Agency or Rural Electrification Agency (or similar)

▪ Ministry of Health
This could be supplemented by Ministry of Public Works or Infrastructure, and institutions providing key support to the energy or the health space (e.g. World Bank, USAID, DFID, UNDP), if relevant for the specific country context. This step is necessary to understand the current state of play of planned and ongoing interventions, as well as better understand current and future priorities.

OUTCOME: coordinated approach.

New Partnerships for Health: Improving health outcomes depends on bold thinking, innovation, and collaboration by all partners. We mobilize resources and expertise to improve health for everyone, everywhere by:
  • Enabling the delivery of lifesaving vaccines and anti-malaria bed nets to children;
  • Advocating for family planning services and safe pregnancies;
  • Facilitating the adoption of clean and efficient household cooking solutions and reliable electricity for health facilities; and
  • Enhancing private sector support for the UN’s Every Woman Every Child movement
We work to support the WHO and strengthen its engagement with civil society. We are a longstanding partner to the Global Polio Eradication Initiative and a founding member of the Polio Advocacy and Communications Team. We also work with other partners – including key UN health agencies, Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria – to prevent disease, and help women, children, and families survive and thrive.

POWERING HEALTHCARE:
Sustainable Energy for All
(SEforALL) Powering Healthcare Initiative  provides the solutions needed by governments and their partners to increase investment in health facility electrification efforts. COVID-19 has brought into sharp focus the inequalities and vulnerabilities of health systems across the world. Long before the pandemic made daily headlines, the lack of reliable power in healthcare facilities was undermining the quality of healthcare for millions of people in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. SEforALL will drive the powering healthcare agenda by equipping governments and their development partners with the evidence and solutions to achieve universal electrification of health facilities by 2030.
